EMDR Group Therapy for Therapists: Reclaiming Yourself Without Telling the Whole Story

A New EMDR Group Therapy Experience for Helpers on the Edge of Burnout

Therapists such as psychotherapists, social workers, psychologists, and other mental health professionals are often taught how to hold space for others—but not always how to hold space for themselves.

Between increasing caseloads, deep emotional labour, and the weight of others’ pain, it’s no surprise that so many helpers experience symptoms of burnout, compassion fatigue, and a quiet disconnection from the very work they once loved. You might still be showing up for your clients, your team, your family—but internally, you’re running on empty.

What if there was a way to reconnect with the parts of you that brought you here in the first place—without needing to unpack every detail of your own trauma?

What if healing didn’t require a breakdown—but instead started with a breath?

Introducing: The EMDR Empowerment Path – An EMDR Group for Therapists

This 3-session group therapy experience is designed specifically for mental health professionals, psychotherapists, social workers, and helpers who are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally fatigued, or disconnected from their purpose.

Using EMDR-informed bilateral stimulation techniques, nervous system regulation, and resourcing practices, this group provides a safe space for therapists to:

  • Reconnect with meaning and purpose
  • Regulate a taxed nervous system
  • Rebuild internal safety—without retraumatization
  • Access the brain’s natural healing capacity
  • Leave each session feeling lighter, clearer, and more resourced

You do not need to share any personal trauma or stories to benefit from this group.

The EMDR Empowerment Path is non-disclosing, strengths-based, and grounded in your nervous system’s natural rhythm of repair.

How the EMDR Group Therapy for Therapists Works

This is a three-session group, each lasting 2 hours, facilitated by an experienced trauma therapist trained in EMDR therapy (and EMDR Group Therapy). It blends EMDR-compatible techniques, somatic grounding, and metaphor-based healing (think: guided visualizations and integration techniques).

💬 Session Themes:

1. Reconnecting to Why You Started
Explore what originally drew you to this work. Engage in bilateral stimulation with positive, resourcing memories of connection and meaning. Strengthen the adaptive information through the group’s collaborative sharing of positive experiences.

2. Gathering Strength
Access internal resources and nervous system anchors. Slow down, breathe, and rewire stress patterns with gentle, non-verbal processing.

3. Facing the Challenge
Engage in trauma processing to reduce distress and build new adaptive networks —without sharing the memories aloud.

4. Claiming Power
Visualize the version of yourself you want to carry forward—grounded, resilient, and whole. Leave with an integration plan and renewed clarity about your needs and next steps.

Who Is This Group For?

  • Therapists who feel emotionally depleted or on the edge of burnout
  • Helpers who want to feel connected to their purpose, power, and presence again
  • Anyone who feels that their nervous system is “stuck on”
  • Professionals who want to process without disclosing personal trauma
  • Those curious about EMDR, Flash Technique, or resourcing-based intensives in a group format

You don’t need to be trained in EMDR to participate. Just bring yourself—and your willingness to pause.

Why EMDR Group Therapy Works?

EMDR intensives and group formats are often reserved for trauma processing. But when adapted, they also work beautifully for burnout recovery and empowerment. By bypassing the need to share content, the brain is allowed to do what it does best: reorganize, integrate, and heal.

This group:

  • Uses bilateral stimulation to reduce overwhelm and increase clarity
  • Builds internal capacity and stabilization
  • Helps restore the connection between your body, brain, and values

You don’t have to unravel your story to reconnect with yourself.
