Individual Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is based on a therapeutic relationship that helps individuals, couples, and families work through difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that interfere with their daily lives. Therapy enables the education of new skills, allows clients to challenge unhelpful thoughts, and teaches how to address difficult emotions. Through their treatment, therapists provide empathy, positive development opportunities, and non-judgmental safe spaces to help their clients gain insight, mature, heal, strengthen important relationships, and make necessary changes in their lives.

At Christina Janiga Psychotherapy, our Registered and Qualifying Psychotherapists provide specialized services for the following concerns:

… and more!

Reduced Rate Counselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling and reduced rate psychotherapy services are provided by Master’s-level psychotherapy interns obtaining knowledge and experience towards application to the CRPO. Their services are similar to a Registered Psychotherapist, and they hold sessions under the direct supervision of a Registered Clinical Supervisor. In-training Psychotherapists can provide supportive counselling for a number of different issues, and are:

  • Experienced in active listening, providing empathy, and creating a non-judgemental space
  • Graduates of Master’s-level courses in trauma, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and biopsychosocial assessments
  • Able to apply their knowledge and skills to help individuals achieve their goals
  • Trained in a Flash-like trauma treatment called 4 Blinks to reduce distress from traumatic memories.

All counselling interns are supervised by Christina Janiga, Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor.

Psychotherapy Treatments

By assessing your goals, we provide specialized psychotherapy services and treatments tailored to your specific symptoms, needs, and wants. Learn more about our therapy methods:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

From identifying negative thought patterns to dealing with triggers, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that targets complicated thoughts and beliefs, then focuses on addressing your real-life challenges.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment developed to help people change unhelpful patterns of behaviour and habits. This therapy focuses on sequential chain analysis to identify unproductive triggers, emotions, thoughts, and outcomes.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy helps alleviate emotional distress that is the result of disturbing life experiences or trauma. Desensitizing these harsh emotional responses can allow you to move forward, gain focus, and develop perspective.  Learn More >
