Virtual EMDR Therapy for Perinatal Mental Health and Anxiety in Ontario

Introduction

Jillian Yuzpe, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Supporting women and adults through virtual EMDR Therapy for Perinatal Mental Health and Anxiety in Ontario with compassion and evidence-based care.

Hi, I’m Jillian—I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) offering virtual therapy for adults and teens (16+) across Ontario. My practice focuses on helping people move through anxiety, trauma, grief, chronic pain, health-related anxiety, and major life transitions such as pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, menopause, and loss.

With advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, I support clients in processing distressing experiences and building greater emotional resilience. My approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in compassion.

Areas of Focus

I provide psychotherapy services for:

  • Perinatal mental health: Pregnancy, postpartum anxiety and depression, birth trauma, parenting overwhelm, and identity shifts in motherhood
  • Health anxiety and chronic pain: Navigating medical concerns, illness-related fear, and body-mind disconnect
  • Grief and loss: Miscarriage, infertility, death of a loved one, or anticipatory grief
  • Menopause and midlife transitions: Coping with emotional, physical, and identity changes during perimenopause and menopause
  • Generalized anxiety and emotional overwhelm: Especially in caregivers, parents, and high-achieving women
  • Low self-esteem, perfectionism, and people-pleasing tendencies

Therapy Approaches I Use

I believe that therapy is a journey—a way to navigate life’s challenges with someone walking alongside you. Whether you’re managing anxiety, adapting to the complexities of parenting, or facing a major life transition, you don’t have to do it alone.

I approach therapy using an integrative framework tailored to meet your unique needs, drawing on evidence-based approaches such as:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy – for trauma, anxiety, health-related fears, and emotionally stuck patterns
  • Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) – to build gentleness toward yourself and reduce inner criticism
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to help you live more aligned with your values
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – to challenge and shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviours
  • Client-Centered Therapy – creating a safe, supportive space where you feel deeply heard

With a particular focus on mindfulness and self-compassion, I support clients in building resilience, improving self-awareness, and fostering self-acceptance. My goal is to create a culturally sensitive, safe, and respectful space where you feel supported and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life.

Supporting Parents, Mothers, and Caregivers

As a mother and co-parent of three children, I deeply understand the emotional challenges that come with parenting – including single and solo parenting, postpartum struggles, and the constant juggle between caregiving and self-care .

I offer compassionate support for parents who are managing anxiety, burnout, self-doubt, or difficulty setting boundaries. Whether you’re navigating matrescence, co-parenting dynamics, or looking for ways to feel more grounded in your role, therapy can help you reconnect with yourself and your strengths.

My Path to Psychotherapy

My path to becoming a psychotherapist began with my personal experiences supporting a loved one through mental health challenges. That journey led me to seek therapy for myself, where I discovered the profound impact of prioritizing my own well-being. Inspired by Brené Brown’s concept of “the unraveling” at mid-life, I’ve experienced firsthand how self-compassion and self-care can transform even the most difficult times into opportunities for growth.

Before transitioning to psychotherapy, I worked for a decade as a Chartered Accountant and spent several years as a qualified teacher. My experiences tutoring high school students with Pathways to Education further deepened my commitment to supporting adolescents and families.

Is Therapy Right for You?

Taking the first step toward counselling or psychotherapy can feel overwhelming, but investing in your mental health is one of the most meaningful decisions you can make. If you’re dealing with perinatal mental health including anxiety and depression, chronic health concerns, grief, trauma, or navigating a major life transition, you’re not alone.

I offer a free consultation to help you explore your goals, ask questions about the process, and determine if we’re a good fit. Together, we’ll create a plan to address your concerns—whether it’s managing anxiety, improving parenting dynamics, or finding clarity during life’s transitions.

Let’s take that courageous step together. Contact me today to schedule your free consultation.
